History and Jewish Thought |
The purpose of this course is to learn about, understand, and appreciate our history from the time of the first Beit Hamikdash through the early modern period. The class explores how different events in Jewish history are intrinsically linked, and have formed the bases for our customs and traditions.
Components Include: First and second temple periods, The Golden Age, Crusades, Inquisition, Renaissance, Shtetl
First and Second Aliyah, Creation of the State of Israel, Modern Jewish History, With the completion of the course, the students will not only know the historical facts of Jewish history, but will also understand their causes and effects.
